
Who is this course for?
This qualification is ideal if you:
- Have completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping (or equivalent).
- Are already working in a bookkeeping role and want to advance your skills.
- Aim to progress into more senior roles such as Accounts Supervisor, Finance Officer, or
Payroll Manager. - Want to keep your options open to later progress onto full accounting qualifications.
What will you learn?
The qualification consists of two mandatory units:
Unit 1: Financial Accounting – Preparing Financial Statements
- Understand how to set Understand the accounting principles underlaying final accounts preparation.
- Understand the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping.
- Implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets.
- Prepare and record depreciation calculations.
- Record period end adjustments.
- Produce and extend the trial balance.
- Produce financial statements for sole traders and partnerships.
- Interpret financial statements using profitability ratios.
- Prepare accounting records from incomplete information.
Unit 2: Tax Processes for Businesses
Understand legislation requirements relating to VAT.
Calculate VAT.
Review and verify VAT returns.
Understand principals of payroll.
Report information within the organisation.
By the end of this course, you will be confident in preparing financial statements and managing
taxation processes in line with professional standards.
